Revealing reveals

First & formost for the amazing & entertaining isagel, queen of fic and visually stunning vids, secondly for everybody who loves The Americans and their somewhat screwed up lives and last (but by no way least) to all sleeper agents around the world.

This show is a perpetual emotional roller-coster, for the protagonists as well as the viewer. The vid concentrates on Elizabeth, who tries to be all things to all people. A hard-nailed, emotionless spy who is loyal to the motherland and follows orders, a loving mother to their children and a reliable partner to Philip. That last relationship I find particularly intriguing as we watch Elizabeth (and Philip) trying to figure out WHAT the heck their relationship is, and what it is they would like it to be, while they go about their spying business. I love that Elizabeth is the one with more political backbone and loyality. I love how she can turns on Claudia who betrays that loyalty and threatens her children. Bottom line, I just love how hard Elisabeth tries to be EVERYTHING to EVERYBODY and kind of loses herself in the process. Happy festivids, isa, hope this cheered you up a bit during your craptastic start into 2014.....

My festivid outing this year was a near miss, on account of technical troubles. I normally festivid whilst on christmas vacation at my parents house, but for very complicated and annoying reasons their computer no longer plays happily with Sony Vegas, so there I was sitting up on  a snowy mountain for three weeks and getting no vidding done. In the end I decided to default, because due to my work I can never predict whether I'll have time for vidding.

But I felt so rotten. Partly for isagel, my lovely receipient, who's lovely, and deserves all the best vids for her lovely self. But also because of The Americans, because that show is lovely gripping and the protagonists journey an emotional roller-coster that also deserves the best vid for it's gripping self. With all that deservingness I managed to squeeze out a vid in 48hours, vidding til 3 am on deadline day for treats. Unheard normally takes me many months or years to finish a vid, so that's a novel experience for me. It does show, this is by no stretch of the imagination the vid is should have been, there's been no beta, no time for reflection, and no time to fix any issues. But it's something. So that's better than nothing.
